Manufactured by Savage this 4-abreast Galloper was made for Mitcham showman, Harry Gray. After which they were sold Billy Butlin, who bought the set for use at his camp at Clacton-on-Sea. The Gallopers remained at Clacton until 1971 when Harry Wigfield and Les Enston bought them for restoration. It was then sold to Tommy Messham. It was acquired by another showmen, but soon sold on to Peter Webb in 1988. The ride was then acquired by Albert Botton and became resident in Margate. After a brief spell at the Hop Farm attraction in Kent it was purchased by Littleboy’s on behalf of Thanet District Council and following restoration will form part of the new Dreamland Amusement Park in Margate, Kent.
